DSS Investigations / Administrative Hearings

Child Sex Abuse Allegations "Ruled Out" After False Molestation Allegations Made Against Our Client Involved in Custody Battle

Our client was accused of molesting his two year old daughter by the child's mother.  Our client denied the accusations, suggesting that the allegations were prompted by the mother's misguided desire for custody.  Our investigation revealed medical evidence establishing that no abuse took place and that the mother's reporting of the events was false.  DSS closed their investigation and "ruled out" sexual abuse.  Futher, police closed their investigation without criminal charges.

Family Daycare License ReInstated After Successful Administrative Hearing

Client is a daycare provider who was summarily stripped of her State license because of her husband’s criminal record. The finding would have resulted in the closure of her business so she appealed to the Office of Administrative Hearings. After a hearing, the judge reversed the suspension of her family daycare license.

Child Neglect "Ruled Out" After Prevailing In Administrative Hearing & Protecting Our Client's Daycare License

Client is a licensed daycare provider who was determined by DSS to have committed “child neglect” after a child was injured in her care. The finding would have caused the loss of her licensing so she appealed that finding to the Office of Administrative Hearings. In reversing the DSS decision, the Judge determined that our client never had a lapse of care or attention in taking care of the children. The Judge changed the DSS finding, concluding that child neglect was “ruled out.”

Private Investigator's License Saved After Winning Administrative Hearing

Client is a licensed private investigator. The Maryland State Police determined should be stripped of his license for defrauding customers, essentially destroying his business. He appealed that finding to the Office of Administrative Hearings. After multiple days of testimony, the judge changed the DSS finding and ruled in our client’s favor restoring our client’s license.

Client is a Department of Juvenile Services employee who, in the course of her employment, was found by DSS to have commitment physical child abuse against a child in her care. As the finding would have ended her career, she appealed the DSS finding to the Office of Administrative Hearings.
